Your Surgery at CDH
What to Expect After Your Surgeon Schedules Your Surgery
Now that your surgeon has scheduled your surgery, you probably have a lot of questions about your upcoming experience and how to prepare. One of our experienced pre-procedure nurses will collect your detailed health history. It should take somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes on the phone. Please have a list of your medications readily available and how often you take them; also include any over-the-counter drugs you routinely take. If you don’t have a list, gather your medicine containers and we’ll have you read the labels to us.
To complete the phone interview, or ask any questions, please contact a pre-procedure nurse at 630.933.6121. TTY for the hearing impaired 630.933.4833. If you get voicemail when you call, please leave your name, surgery date and the best phone number to reach you at. The nurse will return your call as soon as possible.
Hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CDH also offers you the opportunity to complete the majority of your health history online. Start with our Pre-Procedure Interview. You will be guided the rest of the way.
Once we have your history, your surgeon or anesthesiologist may need you to have some additional testing. Your pre-procedure nurse will schedule tests at the hospital or at one of our CDH Convenient Care Centers.
