Hourly Rounding
Our hourly rounding initiative helps us anticipate patient needs and addresses three big patient concerns: pain, positioning and comfort. Nurses and patient care technicians visit each patient at least once an hour to address any pain issues, help them change position, provide assistance going to the bathroom, and make certain patients have everything they need, such as the phone and television remote, within easy reach. In the intensive care units, physicians, nurses and therapists conduct multi-disciplinary rounds. This approach improves communication among caregivers, helps them anticipate patient needs and, ultimately, improves patient care.
