Hospitalists
Coordinated Care for Hospitalized Patients
To assure coordinated efforts from multiple healthcare professionals, Central DuPage Hospital employs a hospitalist approach for its inpatient care.
What is a Hospitalist?
The hospitalist is a board-certified physician specialist in the care of hospitalized patients who oversees each patient’s care throughout his or her stay at Central DuPage Hospital. As a single point person overseeing the patient’s care, the hospitalist checks on the patient daily ("rounds") or throughout the day, monitors the patient’s in-hospital care, and works to coordinate care with the patient's primary care physician and other physician specialists. The hospitalist also coordinates scheduling for any tests or procedures that may be recommended and follows up to make sure results are reported.
Our Services
The Hospitalist serves as an oversight resource to manage the overall care of the patient. The hospitalist keeps track of:
Nursing care provided on the unit
Lab tests and other diagnostic tests that may be performed
Consultations and procedures performed by physician specialists during the patient’s stay
The Team
Your inpatient stay will be coordinated by a board-certified physician with expertise in managing inpatient care.
