Why did I receive more than one bill for my care at Central DuPage Hospital?
You may receive two or more bills for your care here. One bill will be from the hospital itself, covering charges related to the facility, patient room, supplies and nursing care. This bill will say "Central DuPage Hospital" at the top. You also may receive a separate bill(s) from any physician who participated in your care. Most of the physicians providing care at Central DuPage Hospital are independent and bill separately for services rendered.
What’s the difference between "in network" and "out of network" providers?
Many managed care plans (HMOs and PPOs) pay different levels of coverage for healthcare services, depending on whether a healthcare provider is considered in network or out of network. The managed care company will pay a higher percentage of the costs for an in-network hospital or physician. If you choose to receive care from a provider that is out of network, your managed care insurer will pay a lower percentage of the costs and you may be responsible for a higher amount of out-of-pocket payment. We recommend checking with your insurer for the specific requirements of your insurance plan.
Which insurance plans does Central DuPage Hospital accept?
Central DuPage Hospital accepts many insurance plans, but may not be considered an "in-network" facility for all managed care plans. If you are uncertain about your insurance coverage and network, please check with your benefit provider about specific plan requirements. Check out the list of insurance companies with which Central DuPage Hospital currently has contracts. This list is continually evolving, so it’s best to check with your insurer for the most up-to-date information.
Are physician groups affiliated with Central DuPage Hospital considered "in network" under my managed care plan?
You may receive bills from physician practices for professional services related to care received at Central DuPage Hospital. Individual practices – such as West Central Anesthesiology, Midwest Pathology, Emergency Department Physicians and Winfield Radiology – may or may not be considered participating in-network providers under your plan. Contact your benefits provider for exact details related to your coverage.
Do I need to mail a paper claim to my insurance company?
Central DuPage Hospital will bill Medicare, Medicaid and all commercial and managed care insurance companies directly – usually within a week of your appointment, test or discharge from the hospital. As long as we have your current and accurate insurance information, you will not need to fill out and mail a paper claim. (If there is a dispute with the insurance coverage, you may need to file subsequent paperwork later.)
Will my insurance pay for my appointment or treatment at Central DuPage Hospital?
It depends. There are many different insurance plans, and they all differ in their coverage. We suggest that you contact your benefits department or insurance company directly to verify coverage and benefit details – before your visit here.
For your convenience, Central DuPage Hospital will file directly with your insurer after your care here.
