Pathology Plays a Vital Role in Medical Care
Tissue pathology services operate behind the scenes, yet have a vital role in your medical and surgical care. Careful and thorough analysis of specimens provides valuable details about your overall health and disease. These details and clues help your physician to make informed recommendations for treatment.
The lab services of Central DuPage Hospital are equipped to handle complex analyses of blood, urine and tissue samples, including biopsy to determine if tissue is malignant (cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous).
What is Pathology?
Pathology is the branch of science that studies the nature and cause of diseases, and the effects of diseases. There are many different types of pathology. In general, a pathologist analyzes blood, urine, saliva, tissue, bone and other body materials to detect clues that show if a disease is present, or to determine the extent of the disease.
