Medical Imaging

We understand that having a medical scan can be a scary event for a young child. Today, most conditions can be diagnosed using minimally invasive equipment and techniques - causing little or no discomfort for the patient. The pediatric radiologists in the pediatric program, Lurie Children's at Cadence Health, and the imaging staff will guide you and your child through medical imaging procedures.

CDH is a Image Gently® certified site which means we follow their philosophy of being cautious, and perform imaging tests only when necessary and at the lowest possible radiation dose to answer the clinical question.

Services

The pediatric radiologists work with specialists in all of the pediatric units and specialty programs to evaluate and treat a full range of conditions and diseases. Physicians and radiologists on the medical staff of CDH and Lurie Children's view and interpret all pediatric medical imaging scans - allowing for quicker diagnosis and more timely and accurate treatment for our young patients. CDH offers advanced imaging equipment including:

  • CT scanners (Computed Tomography)
  • Digital fluoroscopy
  • MR scanners (Magnetic Resonance)
  • PET scanner (Positron Emission Tomography)
  • X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Interventional radiology

The Pediatric Radiology Team

The medical professionals on the pediatric medical imaging team are committed to giving dedicated and compassionate care in an environment targeted to the needs of children and their families. The multidisciplinary team includes:

  • Lurie Children's specialists, board certified in pediatrics, pediatric radiology, medical imaging, vascular or  interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, nuclear radiology, neuroradiology
  • Pediatric anesthesiologists and Sedation specialist
  • CDH registered nurses
  • Technologists
  • Child life specialists

Location

Pediatric radiologists are available on site and/or remotely, around the clock, to interpret x-rays and scans.
On-site Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Remotely, 24 hours a day
