Congestive Heart Failure
Uncommon Care for Common Heart Failure
Congestive heart failure (also simply called heart failure) is a common condition that can result from narrowed arteries, a previous heart attack, heart defect, high blood pressure or other factors. At Central DuPage Hospital, we put uncommon effort into managing this common condition.
Our Services
We have nearly 20 physicians focused on controlling and treating congestive heart failure. Board-certified cardiologists, including specialists in heart failure and electrophysiology, collaborate to provide the best treatment options for adults with congestive heart failure. We use progressive treatment strategies aimed at stabilizing heart failure before it worsens.
Our services include:
- Ultrafiltration
- Bi-ventricular pacing devices
- Comprehensive, evidence-based medical care
- Ventricular reconstruction surgery
- Patient education on diet, exercise, smoking cessation and other behaviors that can influence the heart’s health
Research Leads to Better Options
Many of our cardiologists are actively involved in clinical research projects. These studies help cardiologists worldwide to further advance the treatment of congestive heart failure and other types of heart disease.
Currently, CDH physicians are involved in the following clinical trials: FUSION II, HF-ACTION, PRECEDENT and OPTIMIZE-HF.
You can talk with your cardiologists if you're interested in learning more about these research studies.
