CDH Pediatric Nurses Earn CPN status
WINFIELD, Ill., January 12, 2009 - Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) is pleased to announce that the following pediatric nurses have recently earned the credential of Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN®) after successfully completing the rigorous Certified Pediatric Nurse Exam developed and administered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB): Lauren Yegerlehner, BSN, RN, of St. Charles; Dana Thielk, RN, of Somonauk; Jodi Smolik, BSN, RN, of Naperville; Susan Rusnok, RN, of Elburn; and Jennifer Cortez, RN, of Geneva.
Certification recognizes a nurse's commitment to professional development. It is a measurable, objective way of acknowledging the achievement of specialty knowledge beyond basic nursing preparation and RN licensure.
Established in 1975 as a nonprofit organization, the PNCB develops certification exams and certification maintenance programs to support the delivery of quality health care to children and their families. The national exams for pediatric nurse practitioners and pediatric nurses are the only certification exams collaboratively designed by Certified Pediatric Nurses, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and pediatricians. PNCB exams are recognized and endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Pediatric Nurses, the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. The PNCB is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
