CDH Nurse Waldron Achieves Advanced Certification
WINFIELD, April 2, 2009 – Wheaton resident Jean Waldron, BSN, RN, RNC-NIC, recently earned advanced certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing by the National Certification Corporation. Currently, Waldron is a staff nurse in pediatric cardiology as well as Central DuPage Hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The National Certification Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that provides a national credentialing program for nurses, physicians and other licensed health care professionals. Certification is awarded to nurses in the obstetric, gynecologic and neonatal nursing specialties, including advanced certification in the subspecialty area of electronic fetal monitoring. To earn this certification, key competencies must be demonstrated, including advanced knowledge of maternal, fetal, transitional and newborn anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition and behavioral psychology. He or she must also demonstrate the ability to develop an individualized plan of care for the restoration, maintenance and promotion of health for the high-risk baby and family during hospitalization and following discharge.
Waldron holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from DePaul University. She is a volunteer coach with the Wheaton Park District and the YMCA. She is a member of St. Daniel the Prophet Church in Wheaton. Waldron and her husband Michael have three children.
