CDH Nurse Brennan Presents at National Conference
WINFIELD, Ill., September 14, 2009 - Rita Brennan, DNP, RNC-NIC, APN/CNS, of Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) was selected to present at The 4th International Conference on Patient- and Family-Centered Care: Partnerships for Safety and Quality, August 17-19, 2009, in Philadelphia, Penn. The 3-day conference was hosted by the Institute for Family-Centered Care, headquartered in Bethesda, Md., with leadership support from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Brennan presented an interactive poster presentation entitled: Assessing Family Centered Pediatric Care in a Community Hospital Setting, highlighting best practices in patient- and family-centered care. About 90 concurrent sessions and 60 interactive poster presentations were offered.
The conference showcased innovative programs and emerging best practices that advance the practice of patient- and family-centered care and improve quality and safety in health care. There were examples of excellence and innovation relevant to a variety of health care settings
Participants from across the United States and other countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan, Ireland, Germany, China and Qatar came to learn patient- and family-centered strategies that deliver safe and quality health care, and create partnerships with patients and families on every level. At this conference, health care leaders provided strategies for redesigning health care, changing culture, implementing tried-and-true clinical processes and partnering with patients and families to yield improved outcomes.
A resident of Lombard, Brennan earned a B.A. from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., a MS in Parent-Child Nursing and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Rush University Medical School in Chicago. Brennan currently is the outcomes manager, Women and Children's Services at CDH.
