Interventional Radiologist joins CDH
New doctor brings university medical center expertise to specialized program
WINFIELD, Ill., February 4, 2008 – Interventional radiologist Stanley Kim, M.D. has joined the staff of Central DuPage Hospital (CDH). As part of the Vascular Interventional Program team, he is working with Nilesh Patel, M.D., interventional radiologist and medical director of the program, and vascular surgeon Joseph Schneider, M.D.
“Dr. Kim brings university medical center experience to DuPage County to our patients who desire the latest, most advanced care for vascular and circulatory problems,” said Dr. Schneider. “He is an integral part of our multi-disciplinary approach to providing comprehensive care.”
Dr. Kim’s clinical specialties includes kyphoplasty, a minimally invasive spinal surgery procedure used to treat progressive vertebral compression fractures, as well as peripheral arterial disease (PAD), deep vein thrombosis, pelvic venous congestion, varicocele embolization and interventional oncology.
Dr. Kim, a resident of Hinsdale, most recently served as a radiologist at Delnor Community Hospital and prior to that, at UCLA Medical Center and West Lost Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital. He received his bachelor’s degree at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and his medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Kim completed his radiology residency at the University of California in Los Angeles, where he also completed his cardiovascular and interventional radiology fellowship, and served as chief resident and assistant clinical professor in the Department of Radiological Sciences.
An experienced researcher, Dr. Kim was involved a variety of research projects at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and UCLA Medical Center. He has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, including Synapse, Journal of Nuclear Medicine and European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, as well as, contributing to medical textbooks, and presented at national meetings.
An active lecturer and presenter, Dr. Kim is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
The Vascular and Interventional Program (VIP) at Central DuPage Hospital
The VIP is a multi-disciplinary collaboration of Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery and other specialty care consultants that bring physicians together to provide comprehensive care to patients suffering from non-cardiac circulatory problems of the arteries or veins. Patients are offered comprehensive outpatient non-invasive vascular laboratory services and other non-invasive medical diagnostic and treatment options for cancer and non-vascular disorders.
