CDH Auxiliary Announces 2008 Scholarship Recipients

WINFIELD, Ill., June 12, 2008 – Central DuPage Hospital’s (CDH) Auxiliary recently awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 18 local high school, college and medical school students interested in pursuing a career in health care.

Scholarships were awarded to students attending a college, university, graduate or medical school program in the fall of 2008. Applicants were required to document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in healthcare and live within Central DuPage Hospital’s service area.

Area high school graduates awarded scholarships included: 

  • Rhythm Gandhi, Carol Stream - St. Louis University
  • Kelsey Gossen, West Chicago- University of Missouri
  • Krishna Patel, Glendale Heights - University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign
  • Christina Rojas, Wheaton - Rice University
  • Vivian Yang, Glen Ellyn - California Institute of Technology

Area college students awarded scholarships included:

  • Jason Carroll, St. Charles - U of I Chicago, College of Medicine
  • Nishant Goyal, Naperville - Mount Sinai School of Medicine
  • Jennifer Heise, Batavia - Northern Illinois University
  • Esther Kim, Wheaton - U of I Chicago, College of Medicine
  • Michelle Koch, Winfield - Northern Illinois University
  • Valerie Lambrecht, Winfield - Arcadia University
  • Megan Mazur, Roselle - Marquette University
  • Stacy Pacana, Naperville - St. Louis University
  • Justine Rehak, Carol Stream - Rush University
  • Jessica Remke, Wheaton - University of Illinois- Urbana/Champaign
  • Cassandra Rico, Naperville - University of North Carolina
  • David Ryan, Wheaton - St. Louis University, School of Medicine
  • Joshua Williams, Wheaton - University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine                     

This is an annual scholarship program. Announcements for applications for 2009 will be in the spring on www.cdh.org.

Since its inception in 1961, the Auxiliary has raised and donated almost $10 million to Central DuPage Hospital. The group provides fundraising, public awareness and community service programs for CDH. The funds raised support facility enhancement projects, the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment, community service programs, wellness initiatives, HomeCare Physicians (providing care for homebound patients) and annual scholarships for area students.
