Athletic Trainer Comes to Wheaton

Central DuPage Hospital and the Wheaton Park District Present a Free Community Health Fair with Special Guest Jim Arthur

WINFIELD, Ill., October 30, 2008 - Many of us make commitments to take better care of our health by way of a New Year's Resolution.  Why not get a head start?  On Tuesday, November 11, from 5:30 - 8:30 pm, Central DuPage Hospital and the Wheaton Park District team up to offer a free community health fair open to all ages. The event will be held at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard, Wheaton.

The highlight of the evening will be special guest Jim Arthur, athletic trainer for the Chicago Bears. Arthur will offer a presentation about physical fitness in the NFL and talk about ways families can get active and stay fit. He will sign autographs for the kids and answer questions.

The final event of the evening will be the announcement of the Grand Prize winning family of the first ever "Family Fitness Challenge" sponsored by the Park District and CDH. Eligible families have competed in fitness events throughout the fall designed to encourage participants to get fit and have fun together. The Grand Prize is an executive suite at a Chicago Bears game - including pre-game on field passes, health club memberships and a family outdoor tent.  All families that completed the challenge received many wonderful giveaways to celebrate their efforts.

Physicians on the medical staff of Central DuPage Hospital will be providing public education on pertinent health topics and will be available to answer questions and provide encouragement.

Other events planned for the free fair include information about healthy eating and cooking by Whole Foods, a Tai Chi demonstration by Parks Plus group fitness instructors, body composition testing and fitness evaluations by Parks Plus Fitness, information from R.E.I. outdoor adventure demonstrations and more.
