Addison Nurse Receives National Recognition
Earns Distinction of House Call Clinician of the Year
WINFIELD, Ill., June 16, 2008 – HomeCare Physicians (HCP), a home care practice of Central DuPage Physician Group, is proud to announce nurse practitioner Ancy Zacharia, RN, MSN, GNP was recently awarded the American Academy of Home Care Physicians’ prestigious House Call Clinician of the Year Award.
The award is the highest honor bestowed by the Academy, an organization of physicians and other home care professionals dedicated to promoting the art, science and practice of medicine in the home. Nominated and selected by their peers, award winners are recognized as pioneering clinicians who are bringing house calls back into mainstream medicine.
Zacharia, an Addison resident, celebrated the milestone of 10,000 home visits with the Wheaton practice in 2007. In October of 2007, she was appointed to Illinois’ Older Adult Services Advisory Committee by Director of Illinois Department on Aging Charles Johnson. Zacharia represents approximately 6000 nurses from Illinois Nurses Association and Chicago Gerontological Nurse Practitioners.
Zacharia received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from R A K College, India in 1993. She completed her masters of science in nursing with a specialty in gerontological nursing at Rush University in Chicago. Zacharia’s academic distinction and proven clinical excellence were recognized at Rush in 1998 with the Professional Nursing Staff Academic Award and the Emma Twigg Award, both given to one outstanding geriatric nurse annually. She became a certified Geriatric Nurse Practitioner in 1999.
The mission of HCP is to provide quality primary care to the homebound to improve their quality of life and the lives of their caregivers. This care reduces healthcare costs by preventing unnecessary ambulance trips, emergency department visits, hospitalizations and nursing home placements.
