Cooke Named VP, Quality and Safety at CDH

WINFIELD, Ill., June 22, 2007 — Dr. David Cooke has been promoted to the position of Vice President, Quality and Safety at Central DuPage Hospital (CDH).  In his new role, Cooke will have responsibility for all quality programs and will serve as a resource to the quality initiatives of the Hospital’s sister organizations—five convenient care centers, Wyndemere, Wyndscape, Westbridge and CNS Home Health & Hospice. He will continue to have responsibility for safety and regulatory affairs.

“Quality care and patient safety have long been key initiatives at Central DuPage Hospital,” said Dr. Kenneth Heaps, vice president of Medical Affairs. “The hospital is one of only three in Illinois to receive the Distinguished Hospital Award for Patient Safety™ two years in a row and also be ranked among the top five percent nationally for overall clinical excellence in 2007 by HealthGrades. These are awards earned under direction of Dr. Cooke. We are confident he will continue to set high standards as the bar continues to rise in quality patient care.”

Dr. Cooke came to CDH in 2002 from Lutheran General Hospital, where he served as Associate Director of Cardiology.  His first position at Central DuPage Hospital was Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services and in 2005 he was named Medical Director of Safety and Quality.

Active locally and nationally in American Heart Association, Dr. Cooke has just begun a two-year term as President of its Midwest Affiliate which is comprised of Illinois and ten other states. He is a Fellow, American College of Cardiology; Fellow, American Heart Association, Council on Clinical Cardiology and Member, American College of Physician Executives.

In 2003 the Metro Chicago Chapter of the American Heart Association awarded Dr. Cooke the Golden Heart award its highest honor  for “continued and significant contributions” over time to the association and its programs.

Dr. Cooke, 56, earned a medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago.
