CDH Outpatient Services Receives Top Honors

National Organization Honoring Hospital for Patient Satisfaction

Winfield, Ill., October 5, 2006 – Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) is proud to announce its outpatient services are topping the charts when it comes to pleasing patients. Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national surveyor of patient perception, has recognized CDH’s physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, mammography, diagnostic imaging, outpatient surgery groups and emergency department for achieving distinction in patient satisfaction.

“We are honored to be recognized for doing our job,” said David Cooke, medical director of CDH’s quality and safety services department. “We don’t strive for excellent patient care to be recognized with awards, we do it because it’s how we or our family members would want to be cared for. However, the designation is a meaningful accomplishment because it tells our patients that they can expect excellent clinical care each and every encounter.”

With a large client base of hospitals and healthcare providers, PRC can rank performance of hospitals at the department or facility level according to the percentage of patients who perceived the quality of their care to be excellent. Those ranked in the top 25% receive a four star designation while performance in the top 10% receives a five star designation.

The following areas received five-star recognition: Lifetime Fitness Rehabilitation Services in Wheaton, Central DuPage Hospital Physical Therapy and Speech/Occupational Therapy. Diagnostic Imaging at Central DuPage Hospital, Mona Kea in Carol Stream and Cantera in Warrenville received four-star recognition. Four-star recognition was also achieved by Central DuPage Hospital Outpatient Surgery and its Emergency Department.

In addition to the star awards, several areas achieved the top scores in the nation on individual survey questions. Lifetime Fitness Rehabilitation Services, Central DuPage Hospital Physical Therapy, and Mammography at Central DuPage Hospital received this special recognition.

“Our commitment to our patients and our community is to provide the highest quality care and a distinctive patient experience,” commented Deb O’Donnell, vice president of Patient Care Services. “We strive to do a little better every day and these awards are evidence of the progress we have made.”
