2010 Tree of Lights

CAROL STREAM, Ill., November 15, 2010 -- For those in need of healing and comfort during the challenging holiday season, CNS Home Health & Hospice, an affiliate of Central DuPage Hospital, presents the twentieth annual Tree of Lights ceremony on Sunday, December 5 at 2 p.m. at Le Jardin at Cantigny Gardens & Park (1S151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton). Anyone who would like to honor a loved one who has passed away, is battling a life-threatening illness, or wishes to honor a special person in their life is welcome.

The Tree of Lights is both a remembrance service and a way to raise funds for programs that benefit those in need in the community. For a contribution, a hand-inscribed ornament will adorn a tree displayed during the ceremony. Ornaments include a dove, soldier, star and heart these can be purchased in honor or memory of a serviceman or woman, loved one or cherished pet. The trees will be lit during the ceremony in celebration of those whose names are displayed. Ornaments will be available at the event.

The program will be from 2:20-3:00 p.m., with the traditional tree lighting ceremony. Lillian Morgan-Lewis, CNS Bereavement Coordinator, will present the keynote address on “How to Get Through the Holidays.” A soloist will be performing as well. There will be refreshments served and music throughout the event.
Funds benefit community members by supporting programs such as:

• Hospice Care for uninsured or underinsured terminally ill patients
• Palliative Care for those with life-threatening illnesses who are still seeking treatment
• Home Health Care for uninsured or underinsured patients
• Bereavement Support meetings for those who experience loss, including children’s groups
• Geriatric Assistance Program for low-income, socially isolated, chronically ill elderly
• Provides the Parish Nurse Program to assist churches with support for parish nurses
• Pet Therapy Program, Paws with a Purpose to give tail waggin’ visits to our patients
